Wild Encounters

Swim with Dolphins

An encounter you will never forget — with wild spinner dolphins living exactly as nature intended.

An Encounter You'll Never Forget

Just you, the sea, and dolphins gliding through the blue

Imagine floating in warm, crystal-clear water while a pod of wild dolphins glides effortlessly beneath you.

  • No walls
  • No performances
  • No crowds

This is what makes Sataya Reef so extraordinary — one of the few places on Earth where wild spinner dolphins can be encountered regularly in their natural habitat.

For many guests it is a lifelong dream. For others, something they never expected to experience. Yet almost everyone leaves with the same feeling: gratitude, wonder, and a deep appreciation for nature.

Welcome to Sataya Reef

One of the Red Sea's hidden treasures

Sataya Reef is a large protected lagoon off the southern coast of Egypt. Surrounded by vibrant coral and crystal-clear water, it is an ideal resting place for the spinner dolphins that visit daily.

The lagoon stretches for several kilometres and offers calm conditions, excellent visibility, and some of the most beautiful snorkeling in the Red Sea.

Far from crowded beaches and busy resorts, the water shifts from deep sapphire to brilliant turquoise, the horizon seems endless, and life moves at a completely different pace. It is a place that invites you to slow down, to breathe, and simply to be.

Meet the Dolphins

The stars of Sataya

The dolphins most commonly seen at Sataya are spinner dolphins — known for their playful personalities and spectacular spinning jumps, and among the most fascinating marine mammals in the world.

They live in close family groups and communicate constantly through sound, movement, and social interaction. Watching them together is a beautiful reminder of how intelligent and connected these animals truly are.

Some mornings you may see large pods moving gracefully through the lagoon. Other times, smaller groups resting quietly beneath the surface. Every encounter is different — and that is exactly what makes every one special.

Wildlife on Their Terms

The beauty of natural encounters

These dolphins are completely wild. They are not trained. They are not fed. They are not encouraged to interact with people.

Sometimes they swim nearby. Sometimes they keep their distance. Sometimes they seem curious and playful; other times they simply continue with their day.

Authentic. Respectful. Natural. Because the most meaningful encounters are never forced.

Respect for the Dolphins

Guests in their home

Protecting the dolphins and their environment is at the heart of everything we do. We follow responsible wildlife practices designed to minimise our impact and keep the dolphins feeling safe in their natural habitat.

The dolphins always have a choice. Their wellbeing always comes first — and by approaching every encounter responsibly, we help protect this extraordinary place for future generations.

More Than Dolphins

A living underwater paradise

While dolphins are the highlight of the trip, the reef itself is full of life. Every snorkeling session reveals something different. You may encounter:

  • Colourful coral gardens
  • Butterflyfish and angelfish
  • Parrotfish and surgeonfish
  • Moray eels
  • Blue-spotted rays
  • Sea turtles
  • Schools of tropical fish
  • Vibrant biodiversity everywhere you look

Why This Experience Is So Special

Some journeys are measured by how they make you feel

There are many beautiful places and many wonderful holidays. But very few combine adventure, nature, wildlife, relaxation, and simplicity in quite the same way as Sataya.

For one week, you leave the ordinary behind. You live with the rhythm of the sea. And if you're lucky, you may find the experience changes something inside you long after you return home.
